One of the urgent issues in the development of renewable energy sources (RES) is integration into networks
A fundamental technological principle of the sustainable operation of the energy system is the need to maintain a balance between generation and constantly changing consumption at any given moment. At the same time, the rapid development of RES and distributed generation, the introduction of electric vehicles leads to increased volatility in the power load schedule and raises the requirements for traditional generation in terms of its ability to regulate the energy system.

Consequently, certain hours may experience instability in the power system, network loads exceeding acceptable values, voltage and frequency fluctuations, and a general decrease in the reliability of the power supply.
The use of energy storage systems (BESS) can partially or fully address these challenges. In this regard, discussions on the use of battery energy storage systems (BESS) to address the issue of balancing in the the Unified Energy System (UES) of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been ongoing for several years.
On May 28, 2025, Kazakhstan will host its 1st International Business Conference on the topic "The Role of Energy Storage Systems BESS in the energy sector of Kazakhstan"
The conference is organized by the Qazaq Green RES Association, Total Energies and Nazarbayev University.

The conference will be attended by deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KEGOC JSC, KOREM JSC, Settlement and Financial Center for the Support of Renewable Energy Sources LLP, domestic and foreign investors, scientists, experts and researchers of energy storage systems.
What makes this conference unique is the participation of leading global manufacturers of BESS—industry leaders such as Huawei, Sungrow, Envision Group, and SAFT. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the companies’ achievements at a special exhibition, as well as during the working sessions of the conference.
